The Nambucca Valley came out in force on Saturday 16 May as more than 120 people filled Macksville’s Matilda Street Gallery to celebrate the opening of the Nambucca Valley Women in Art exhibition — a vibrant showcase honouring the creativity, skill, and spirit of local women artists.
Guests were welcomed with live music by Alicia Parry, champagne on arrival, and breathtaking floral arrangements by Odd Molly that transformed the gallery into a living artwork. A spectacular grazing table curated by Jacinta from Scoop Doggs became a talking point of the night — so beautifully arranged it felt like an edible art installation.
This year’s exhibition features 59 local women artists presenting 150 artworks across a rich spectrum of mediums, including watercolour, oils, acrylics, prints, textiles, sculpture, and more. The exhibition will run until Saturday 13 June, giving the community plenty of time to explore and celebrate the depth of talent within the region.
Nambucca Valley Women’s Business Network (NVWBN) President, Libby Foster, expressed her gratitude for the community’s ongoing support:
“This exhibition is a testament to the incredible creativity of women in our valley, and it simply wouldn’t be possible without the generosity of our sponsors. We extend our heartfelt thanks to our major sponsor, BCU Bank, and to our regular sponsors — Coastal Wealth Directions, Macksville River House 1910, Scoop Dogg, Integrated Lifestyle Developments, Planning Portal Professionals, and Macksville Hotel.
We also want to acknowledge the artists who pour their heart into their work, Eddy from Matilda Street Gallery for hosting us with such care, our dedicated committee members, and every person who came along on Saturday to support local art and events. Your presence keeps our creative community thriving.”
The NVWBN invites locals and visitors alike to experience the exhibition over the coming weeks.
Come along, bring a friend, and support the extraordinary women artists of the Nambucca Valley.
